War on Science and Songs for the Times

Otto’s book War on Science provides a lens to explain science’s place in the founding of America and in the preservation of democracy. In his remarks, Otto will discuss how to bring evidence-based solutions to difficult problems facing our country and ensure civic leaders are not ignoring or discounting science.

“Covid-19 has cast a spotlight on the urgent problem of science denial,” says Otto. “Why is science on some topics involving our health or the environment becoming political, and why are so many Americans becoming willing to dismiss what scientists tell them?”

Gorka, who will add his signature songs to this online event, is known for insightful observations and subtle, wry, layered approach to contemporary folk music.
