This reception also marks the close of “Materiality: Exploring the New and Reclaiming the Ancient, Part I” in the Atrium Gallery. This collaborative group exhibition presents artists’ explorations of sustainable art materials rediscovered through research into the past and reimagined for uses in the future. The artists are part of an ongoing seminar series on the role of art and sustainability to create thriving communities. Known as “What We Need is Here,” this group met monthly from summer 2022 through spring 2023 to explore new materials and ways of working together to create art.
