Feathered Friends of the St. Croix

If so, consider joining the Wild Rivers Conservancy of the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers and the Wild River Audubon Society Chapter on Saturday, December 16 for the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count.This intergenerational, family and kid-friendly event will provide passionate bird enthusiast guides, binoculars, a bird count orientation, a birding walk, and a special book gifting at the end of the event.

This event will be held at the Chisago Lakes Library on Saturday, December 16. Please arrive at the Chisago Lakes Library at 10am sharp for library opening. We will begin inside with a Christmas Bird Count orientation, followed by an indoor bird count from the library windows overlooking their bird feeders. At 11am we will bundle up and take a neighborhood birding stroll for an additional count. Before we end at noon, we will have a bird book gift exchange.

Please bring a children’s book or an adult book about birds to exchange (the book can be previously loved / used). Birding is a wonderful gift, so let’s give bird love away on this special day where people across the country will be counting birds.

Hike Length: Half mile. We will be participating in a short birding stroll after the stationary bird count.

Hike Difficulty: Good for beginners

Bathrooms: Yes, inside the library.

For the safety of participants and staff, this program may be canceled due to inclement weather or a temperature of 0 degrees or below. Participants will be notified via email and event pages will be updated if the program is canceled.
