Growing Oyster Mushrooms

Oyster mushrooms are one of the easiest mushrooms to grow for beginners, and can replace button mushrooms in most recipes. In this workshop, José will showcase his small-scale mushroom production system at Big River Farms, and walk through considerations to take at every step of the process: site preparation, materials, inoculation, care, and harvest. Then, José will lead the group in a hands-on process of inoculating mushroom starters for participants to take with them and grow at home! José is a first-year farmer at Big River Farms, but came to the program already experienced in growing artisan mushrooms in his place of origin, Mexico.
