Why are some people switching to Heat Pumps?
Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails are hosting a free presentation on October, 30th at 6:30 pm in the Scandia Community Center. Arbor Otalora Fadner, Program Coordinator with the Center for Minnesota Energy and Environment will tell us about heat pumps and the benefits of installing one instead of using propane or natural gas. Heat pumps run on electricity which can be generated from renewable resources like wind and solar. In addition to emitting carbon, gas also releases methane which is even worse than carbon. Buildings account for about 40% of Minnesota’s energy consumption. Heat pumps are an efficient and will be a major component of the state’s climate strategy. People who rely on propane can save as much as 30% on home heating costs. Significant rebates are and will be available to homeowners. REFRESHMENTS will be provided by Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails. The Scandia Community Center is located at 14727 209th St. N in Scandia.
