Extend Growing Season with a Hoop House

Extend Growing Season with a Hoop House

Presented by River Market Co-op at River Market Community Co-op

With a few dollars and an hour of work you can easily build a simple “hoophouse” in your garden.  It will keep excessive rain off the plants, block the wind, keep frosts and heavy dew off the leaves, and raise daytime temperatures by 5-10 degrees. This can extend your growing season by a month or more in the spring and in the fall.  In addition the design, layout and construction of an inexpensive “permanent” hoophouse will be explained. This will allow you to have fresh greens through a Minnesota winter without additional heat.

Instructor: Don Slinger, Farmers Market grower and gardener.
