Lake Elmo: Planting for Clean Water - Wonderful Wetlands workshop

Lake Elmo: Planting for Clean Water - Wonderful Wetlands workshop

Presented by East Metro Water Resource Education Program at Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center at Sunfish Lake Park

Come to this workshop to learn what makes wetlands special and how you can enhance and protect wetlands near your home.

During the first half of our “Wonderful Wetlands” workshop, we will share tips for using native plants and other landscaping features to add beauty, provide habitat, and protect water quality. We’ll also talk about rules that affect what landowners can and can’t do with wetlands on their properties. Learn about resources to help you with water-friendly gardening projects, including:

· Incentive grants
· Free site visits
· Garden designs and plant lists

During the second half of the workshop, we’ll head outside to explore wetlands at Sally Manzara Nature Center in Sunfish Lake Park. Learn about unique plants and animals that are found in wetlands and practice identifying native and invasive plants we find along the way.

Hosted by City of Lake Elmo; Brown’s Creek, South Washington, and Valley Branch Watershed Districts; and the East Metro Water Resource Education Program.
