JUDITH SPARROW
“I live on 3.3 heavily wooded acres approximately 4.5 miles south of Prescott, WI, half-way down a dead-end road. I’ve seen 90 species of birds on my property or flying over it (Bald Eagles and Sandhill Cranes).

“Although I took a Nature Study course at the U of MN in 1979, and identified a few birds in the field, I didn’t take an official “birding” class until September of 1980. I never dreamed that I would become a world birder! My goal at the time was simply to be able to identify birds that I saw while I was outdoors doing other things such as canoeing, hiking, backpacking, skiing, etc. However, as I took more birding classes and did a bit of traveling to see unique birds, I became addicted to birding. My passion for birding has enabled me to see more than half of the world’s bird species, visit approximately 40 countries for birding, and travel to all 7 continents. Current goals include seeing a Horned Guan in southern Mexico, birding in the Manaus area and also the River of Doubt area of Brazil, and more! I completed the WI Master Naturalist Volunteer Training Course last year and my volunteer project for this year is to work with Freedom Park and focusing on WI bats.”
