Get started in the fascinating world of beekeeping. This workshop will address everything you need to practice the art of beekeeping. Topics include: why bees are beneficial, basic bee biology and behavior,
beekeeping equipment, selecting a site and starting a bee colony, managing honeybees throughout the year, extracting honey, preparing your hives for winter, and managing surviving colonies the following
year. Participants will receive handouts on all topics covered including a list of resources, and will be able to see beekeeping equipment, and catalogs. Bring lunch or hop across the street to buy lunch at River Market Deli.
Instructor: JoAnne Sabin, beekeeper and a member of the Minnesota Hobby Beekeepers Association (MHBA).
