Facebook LIVE Franconia Dinner and Discussion: Ashely Blalock

Franconia Virtual Dinner & Discussion, Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 6pm with 2020 Visiting Artist Ashley Blalock

Artists give a one-hour presentation, followed by dinner and a community dialogue about the work.  2020 Visiting Artist Ashley Blalock will be discussing her current installation at Franconia Sculpture Park

Ashley V. Blalock was born and raised in San Diego, CA. She holds an MFA in Sculpture (installation focus) from the San Francisco Art Institute, an MA Art History from the University of California, and a BA in Painting and Printmaking from San Diego State University. She was a resident at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Wassaic Project, and Vermont Studio Center, and a visiting teacher at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Her solo installation venues include the Nevada Museum of Art, Lux Art Institute, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio in New York, and the Last Bookstore in Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited in group exhibitions at ESXLA, Miniartextil in Como, Italy, the Craft in America Center, Huntington Beach Art Center, Oceanside Museum of Art, and the Whatcom Museum. Her site-responsive installations have been placed in and around historic homes such as Edith Wharton’s home (The Mount), Highfield Hall, and the Heritage Museum and Gardens. She has upcoming solo installations at the Hunter Museum of American Art and Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art.
