WOMEN IN CONSERVATION: FARMS AND FORESTS

WOMEN IN CONSERVATION: FARMS AND FORESTS

Presented by St. Croix River Association at Wild River State Park

In honor of Women’s History Month, the St. Croix River Association will host three family-friendly events throughout the month of March to highlight the contributions of women in the field of conservation. From historical figures like wildlife biologist Frances Hamerstrom to present-day staff members at SCRA and other organizations, these events will feature the inspiring stories of the women in our watershed and the work they do to conserve its beauty and resources for future generations.

As an environmental research, renewal, and retreat center located next to the park, WEI’s mission is to bring together agricultural, food, and environmental justice, one community at a time. Participants will learn about environmental justice from Jacquelyn and how you can potentially get involved on the WEI farm, and Nikki will discuss her work with SCRA’s My St. Croix Woods program, the path of her career, and advice on navigating the field of conservation.

This family-friendly event is open to all, but may be especially inspiring for young people with a passion for nature! The hike will primarily be outdoors. We will be following State of Minnesota and CDC guidelines for COVID-19 safety. Please bring a facemask and be prepared to follow social distancing protocols.
