Inuit Traditions Meet Modern Science: Changing the Earth Together

Inuit Traditions Meet Modern Science: Changing the Earth Together

Presented by Stillwater Area Public Schools/ Native American Parent Advisory Committee at Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center

In 2017, Tony Manzara (retired 3M chemist) and his spouse Connie Kirk (retired 3M accountant and self-employed caterer) traveled with representatives of the non-profit company Ice911 to conduct research on how to slow the melting of the polar ice cap. The goal of the partnership with a Native American corporation in Utqiagvik–formerly Barrow, Alaska–is to slow climate change in the Arctic Circle by protecting arctic ice with eco-friendly materials that reflect away the sun’s heat.

Join us at this unique joint event of Stillwater NAPAC and Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center to learn how combining Inuit values and traditional practices with modern scientific methods can change the Earth!
