Join Tanya Piatz for a discussion about her work, process and inspiration.
“Minnesota Birds of Special Concern” Piatz does extensive research to document 93 species of birds looking for reasons for species decline, habitat requirements, breeding information, food requirements, and activities. She tells this story of the birds in ink – using color to make the birds noticeable and adding the declines of the species in gray tone. “I use ink because of its permanence just like species decline if we don’t do things differently. Pencil is used to represent things we have the ability to change.”
Tanya’s work is part of Birds, Trees, River – considerations of the environment on view at ArtReach St. Croix Galleries May 19 – June 25.
